Character Interview: Abaddon from Joseph Spencer’s ‘Wrage’

We’re thrilled to have here today Abaddon from Joseph Spencer’s new occult crime thriller, Wrage.  Abaddon is an immortal angel of destruction who became King of the Eternal Abyss and is plotting to rally the Sons of Darkness from Purgatory to overthrow God and the Sons of Light.

It is a pleasure to have Abaddon with us today at Beyond the Books!

Thank you so for this interview, Abaddon.  Now that the book has been written, do you feel you were fairly portrayed or would you like to set anything straight with your readers?

As the ruler of the Abyss, I implore the mindless sheep which inhabit the realm of man to stand up against their oppressors in Heaven. The Sons of Darkness have always been man’s most faithful supporters. We want the congregation of man to join us in our fight against the congregation of God. Men and women are sinful by nature. Unlike the congregation of God, we wish to accept you as you are. Embrace your sin and rebel against those who demand you deny yourself pleasure and those who demand you bow down and worship them for their so-called Savior.

My brethren and I are often portrayed as evil, but we offer man the chance to fulfill his desires. We offer man the chance to elevate themselves to Gods. That is what I want to set straight. If those looking down upon you from Heaven loved you so much, why would they make you suffer like they do? It’s because they don’t want you to rise so that you stay on your knees in awe of them.

Do you feel the author did a good job colorizing your personality?  If not, how would you like to have been portrayed differently?

Joseph calls me names, and I can’t stand his portrayal. I’m called the beast. I’m called the monster. He makes it seem like Jeff Wrage didn’t want to bargain with me. Jeff asked for my help. He wanted to avenge his wife’s murderer, and I just asked him to hold up his end of the bargain. I’m no monster. I’m a fan of man. I want to show the realm of man its full potential. In any form of evolution, the weak die. I’m not afraid to kill the weak to make you stronger. Can’t you see that?

What do you believe is your strongest trait?

Please. I’m the King of Abyss. My power is limitless. I don’t have to justify myself to you. Invite me inside of you, and you’ll tremble at my power.

Worse trait?

I never forgive. If you break a deal with me, I’ll make you pay for eternity. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

If you could choose someone in the television or movie industry to play your part if your book was made into a movie, who would that be (and you can’t say yourself!)?

Since you sheep view me as the epitome of evil, you’d have to find the human equivalent. Donald Trump, perhaps?

Do you have a love interest in the book?

Haven’t you paid attention to this interview? I love the realm of man. That’s why I encourage them to overthrow their oppressors in Heaven.

At what point of the book did you start getting nervous about the way it was going to turn out?

Nervous? Ha! I found my vessel. It played out exactly the way I planned.

If you could trade places with one of the other characters in the book, which character would you really not want to be and why?

I wouldn’t like to be Jeff Wrage. He let the Archangel Michael fill him with lies. Jeff was so close to fulfilling his destiny. He’ll never know what I would’ve done for him.

How do you feel about the ending of the book without giving too much away?

The Archangel Michael thought he could keep me from adding to my army. We know he’s wrong now, don’t we? Ha!

What words of wisdom would you give your author if s/he decided to write another book with you in it?

Joseph should worry about his soul. If he continues to call me names, I will make him pay for all of eternity in the afterlife.

Thank you for this interview, Abaddon.  Will we be seeing more of you in the future?

Silly boys and girls, most of you will spend eternity with me. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
